No thank you. He sucked at making picks last year, and this year is better. As a CB he can at least knock away a ball, as a WR he needs to grab it, haul it n, and keep it. Let's not rush the guy, let's just keep him as CB right now, he's doing good.

Or... some reps at WR may help his concentration for catching more INT's ;-)

It's not like the Dolphins are stacked and will be a super bowl team this year. We've got nothing to lose. Let's take a chance at having a nice year for the rook QB and Philbin's first year heading into this new era. We all can't stand the Jets, but I admired them for pulling out all the stops taking risks last week against Houston.

And imo, this is not a big risk anyway. Again, Deion Sanders was the best corner in football. And he played a far more dangerous position, as a punt returner all the time against 11 men ready to take his head off every week. Even played some snaps at WR, and even playing another professional sport, baseball, on the same day as an NFL game. I was there when the Falcons brought in a helicopter to Joe Robbie Stadium to lift Sanders to a baseball playoff game later that night.

Sean Smith has far more size and is not nearly as frail as Sanders was, and he'll be at WR -- corners are small and not terrifying. It's not like we're asking Smith to line up in the backfield to run the ball against defensive lines and LB's. He'll be lined up 3 or 4 plays a game at WR going up against smallish corners. Hell, and he can be used as a decoy for 3 or 4 WR sets, it's probable that other teams will stick a #1 or #2 cornerback on him considering Smith's size, as the Texans stuck their #1 corner on Cromartie last monday night... then attack other areas.

Football is a risky sport as it is, why would you increase the odds by giving Smith more reps? Teams that do this are either overly desperate (Jets) or have enough depth to survive an injury (Dallas when they did it with Deion)...and baseball, really? That's not a contact sport...have you seen some of the fat boys in baseball? He played a baseball game and a football game on the same day once...don't make it sound like he did it regularly. Deion didn't exactly like contact either...he was never known for his tackling and he'd either run out of bounds or fall to the ground on a lot of his returns if a defender was bearing down on him.

As for the OP's thought process on this, its silly. You don't put a CB who finally seems to be taking that next step, and force feed him something new.

Why do people here advocate to mess with something that is working? I understand people want a more prolific offense. But this team isn't making the playoffs and this season is about growth.

What does that have to do with this coaching staff and this team? With little to no depth at CB, you are sitting here advocating running the teams best CB at WR. Only on FH and theganggreen.com would this be taken with any type of seriousness. The Jets might be doing it, but it reeks of desperation....are the Phins desperate? I don't think so...
