Marines Carry 11 Year Old Boy Across Finish Line

Kim Baltz was wondering what happened when she didn’t see her 11-year-old son at the finish line of a children’s triathlon in Florida last weekend.

“It was only a mile, I knew he was tired, I was like, ‘Where is he, where is he, where is he,’” Baltz told

. “All of a sudden the announcer just said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I want you to turn around and look at what’s happening on the course.’”
What everyone turned to see was her son Ben, a bone cancer survivor, in the middle of a group of Marines who had picked him up after his prosthetic leg broke during the Sea Turtle Tri in Pensacola, Fla.

One thing that needs attention; The kid wasn't really happy about being carried over the finish line.
You can see it in his face. You can hear it in the short responses he gave after.
His intent wasn't to be carried across.

His intent was to make it on his own.

    I think so too.

Not only from the Marines, who clearly rallied around the kid, and do what Marines,
predictably, will do......But, from the kid, who asserted that he could finish on his own.
Only a chatastophic mechanical failure that he couldn't repair made it necessary for
the Marines to carry him in.

    That's just good ****.

THAT is the America I love.

I saw this on TV. This was simply awesome, how about the kid not wanting to ask for help though! I give him so much credit for busting his ass and showing a will of steel.
