Anyone else see Will Cain destroy that environmentalist on Real Time?

I cant find the clip. Anyone have it or did anyone see it?

Anyhoo, Will Cain was on the show last week and he gave almost the identical argument I posed to you tree hugging hippies. It was great. I forget the guys name that Maher had on who was supposedly some leading environmentalist.

Cain completely destroyed him. It was great how he didnt dodge the science behind the environmentalists movement. The guy threw a couple of jabs Cain's way which of course had the socialists in the crowd applauding, but Cain still crushed him with logic. My favorite line was "You dont need to put a touiquet around your neck when you get a nosebleed."

Couldnt have said it better. He also destroyed the environmentalist with "Unlike you I have humility and can admit that we dont know whats going to happen in 100 years."

Heres a little clip from the show, the only one I could find. It deals with affirmative action. The environmentalist comes on shortly afterwards.

It is hard to comment when you don't even have the clip for us to see, but I always found the argument that "we don't know what will happen, so lets just do nothing!" to be completely asinine.

All I know is this, in a little over 100 years since the industrial revolution began, we have already seen visible signs of environmental destruction and change. A 100 hundred years is a essentially a FART in the vast amount of time that the Earth has been around. And in that FART of time, we have managed to so pollute this planet that due to ozone layer destruction, even FISH are getting SKIN CANCER (

). In that FART of time, we have managed to dump so much insoluble plastic into the Ocean that in the Pacific it has even turned into a floating ISLAND of plastic garbage (

) TWICE the size of Hawaii.

The fact is, our use of the environment is not sustainable. We take and take, without giving. We don't live off the land like our ancestors did, we rape the **** out of it. The ecosystem is a balancing act. After living outside of that ecosystem for so long (or so we thought), we have lost sight of how we fit in it.

We might have already reached the tipping point and set the world on a trajectory that will leave us without a habitable home, but even if we haven't why wait until we do before changing our ways? Because some Big Oil bigwig is cashing in on our addiction to oil?

This mentality that we shouldn't act because we don't know for sure is an idiot's mentality. It's like saying "I don't know if I will get cancer, so I will just continue to smoke a pack a day". Its ignorance. Feel free to **** over your own health, but don't expect us to sit idly by and let you take us down with you.

Sorrry, but your boy Will Cain looks like an ignorant dope in this video. So his solution is??? "Don't worry, we will invent something to offset our current destructive behavior!"

That's like saying, "Who cares about murder?? 100 years from now we might be able to bring people back from the dead!"

As Bill Maher said, "You can stick your head in the sand all you want". Only someone with delusions would think that either of those airheads came out looking good.

Forget 100 years from now, the science is projecting in five to ten years we could start seeing problems. Banking on a super advanced technological miracle invention within the next 10 years is a fool's game.

I was thinking the same when I saw that clip. The Stewart quote came into mind instantly.

A nosebleed won't lead to a neck wound. Aside from the possibility of being a symptom of a greater problem, a nosebleed is an isolated incident.

A changing climate, however, is not isolated and can have a domino effect on all forms of life via the food chain.

Will it be worse 100 years from now just because it's changing? I don't know, but I can't think of any argument to be made that the sudden extinction of a species (sudden, not gradual) can be a good thing for the planet. There would simply be no time for the predators of that species to adapt.

I also have to agree that the "I don't know what we can invent to help because I have humility" line, in no way strengthens his argument. What if we can't invent something to fix it? In fact, I would argue that to assume we will invent something to fix the problem of less fertile soil on the planet is actually the most arrogant argument one could make.
Not every human is a manipulative, opportunistic, letch... or at least that's what I'm told.

Debt, health care, and foreign policy are irrelevant compared to climate change. The fact that no one is talking about it is killing us.

Jeeze, you guys are really into this green-scare Kool Aid aren't you? Did the climate never change prior to the industrial revolution? Where's your proof that the climate we are changing from is the climate Earth "should" have? Where's your proof that the climate change is indeed anthropomorphic?
