My brother's already in bow season (Kansas) and rifle started here this past weekend. Cousin (NC) got an UGLY little 7-pointer late Sunday. Looked like a dog with horns!!

Bow season is in full tilt here in NY. Not as many hunters so they are opening the seasons earlier and longer. I need to get into my stand with my bow, it'd be nice to get out four or five time before rifle opens up here.
But if I don't I plan to use the long bow to knock a few off for meat.

Yep. Bow season has been in full swing for awhile here. Unfortunately, I've let my craft slip into the abyss on that count. (haven't fired the 'ol Bear since I was 18) I did get it out this year, but before i get around to shooting it I'll definately need to change the string, and have the cables looked over.

It's been stored well, but I'm not in the mood for exploding cables to the face at full draw.
I haven't been in the woods at all since February, killed a couple of hogs. Stupid work! Maybe I can put a long-nosed nanny in the freezer here in the next few weeks.

Saw five today.
Jumped two on the way in to the morning location ... No shot.
A nice one snuck in the back while I was sitting there. Got to about 20 ****ing yards, then snorted and stepped behind some brush for two minutes looking at me. Couldn't get a clear shot, so she walked too.

It was however, a beautiful day in the woods. Except for the annoying ass chipmunk that sat there and chirped at me for a solid half hour.

All in all, today was a pretty relaxing day. There's nothing quite like sitting with your back to a tree, observing nature (even in sporadic light rain) for 7-8 hours for recharging the 'ol batteries. Even when the hunt's not successful, it still kinda is.
