High school principal bans ‘grinding’ at school dances

A Pittsburgh area high school principal is trying to put the brakes on "grinding" at school dances.

Mt. Lebanon High principal Brian R. McFeeley sent a letter to the school's parents last week saying the "sexually suggestive" dance would be banned at future gatherings because too many students had ignored warnings from teachers to cut it out.

"It's just not appropriate," McFeeley told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

"It would be behavior we wouldn't condone in the hallways and at other events."

In the letter, McFeeley said the debauched dance "generally includes a male student rubbing up behind a female partner while both make a gyrating motion from side to side."
"Sometimes it evolves into very suggestive sexual motions by both partners," he said in the letter, which was posted on the website Gawker.
