I like how "war" almost no longer exists according to our government. Bombing? Not war. Invading? Not war. Occupying? Not war. Drugs? War.

I would also add sanctions and embargos to that too.

Anyone remember when going to war(which this would be, no question) was actually considered a big deal? Like, how it was something to do only after all other options have been explored?

Its fairly depressing how a chunk(a damn large chunk) of our populace now consider it a broad first and last option measure. How, if something becomes slightly inconvenient, its time to start throwing bombs at the problem and if that fails escalate the situation as quickly as possible. Like a bunch of highschool bullies who feel the solution to any problem is to start hitting it, and if that fails hit it some more.

And yes, i understand that some consider Democrats exactly the same as Republicans in this regard. Hypocrites the left may be, they at least show some hesitation on the subject. The rights eagerness is unnerving.

Not necessarily true. Historically, America has elected Republicans to get us out of wars. It really wasn't until the Bushes that this changed.

Democrats got us into the Korean and Vietnam wars without declarations. 2 wars that we lost/draw. Pointless wars that cost many lives and money.

I was refering to recent attitude shifts, which is why i mentioned how it was once something to avoid while now its something to eagerly anticipate.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Bush or McCain were in office over the least 4 years we would have troops on the ground in Syria, Libya, and Iran.

Representative Mike Rogers of Michigan declares on CNN that:

1) Bombing Iran's nuclear sites would not be an act of war, and

2) He's sure the Iranians would NOT see "targeted strikes" as an act of war either.

As well as both world wars. With the partial exception of the Spanish-American War (McKinley was pressured into it by a Democratically controlled Congress), there wasn't a war, offical or undeclared, started by a Republican until Reagan.
