I don't advocate some anarchist capitalist state with no government but very strongly believe in the US Constitution which clearly states what should be handled by the federal government and what should be delegated to the states. When Obama or anyone else advocates over-reaching the powers specifically assigned to the federal government, I have a real problem with it. I believe that the tenth amendment is one of the most important aspects of the constitution. For what it is worth, outside of maintaining the most well-equipped and best trained military on the planet, providing strong foreign affairs and leadership, and providing BASIC regulation of interstate commerce, I don't think that the federal government has any business sticking its nose into much else. Our founding fathers never had any intention for the federal government being involved in anywhere near what they are right now.
Also, let me help you out here with a definition of Socialism from Merriam-Webster: Socialism is any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods. Socialism is not a political designation, it is an economic designation. We are not a Socialist nation, we are a capitalist nation. Thus, every time that the federal governement steps in and interferes with the economy through unnecessary regulation, taxation, "assistance", etc. it is a movement in a socialist direction as it move toward government ownership or administration of the means of production or the distribution of goods or services.
With that, I will try to address each of the myriad items that you brought up.
Socialist ? What ? The roads you travel to work everyday is that socialist? What if your house is burning down and you call Fire rescue ? is that socialist ? How about if you don't have health insurance but you have an heart attack and you call an ambulance and they rush you to the ER and they have to treat you ? Is that socialist ?
Outside of interstates, which fall under interstate commerce, roads are a matter of the states interest and should have nothing to do with the federal government. Police and fire deapartments belong to local governments (except for specialized departments such as FBI, Federal Marshalls, State Police, Highway Patrol, etc.) and the federal and most of the time state government should have nothing to do with them. I do have health insurance and any government intervention into healthcare is, by the definition above, socialist.
Tell me what I posted above you consider socialist ?
See above
You can actually go to this

and type in your annual salary in you can see your tax dollars at work. But of course you wont! You rather keep believing what you have been condition to believe.

As you can see as much as you would like to believe his policies are socialist which they are not, all these were in place and existence before him,
National Defense accounts for 24.9% of your tax dollars - Is this socialism ?? As I said above, national defense is one of the specific roles assigned to the federal governement and it should be the largest expenditure for the federal government by a long shot.
Military personnel salaries and benefits 5.8%
Ongoing operations, equipment, and supplies 10.3%
Research, development, weapons, and construction 7.9%
Atomic energy defense activities 0.7%
Defense-related FBI activities and additional national defense 0.2%
Health care Accounts for 23.7% of your tax dollars- Is this socialism? This is absolutely and unquestionably socialism as healthcare is a service. Governement intervention into the ownership, means of payment, or delivery of healthcare services is absolutely "...advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods." Furthermore, the federal government has absolutely no constitutional right to intervene in healthcare whatsoever. Any intervention should take place at the state level along with the vast majority of the regulation. By definition, Obamacare is 100% socialist in its concept and execution. Healthcare should account for 0% of our federal tax dollars.
Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)10.0%
Medicare physician, prescription drug, and other payments 10.5%
Health research and food safety 1.4%
Disease control and public health services 0.8%
COBRA tax credit and additional health care activities 0.9%
Job and Family Security 19.1% of your tax dollars. is this Socialism? Again, job and family security should fall to the states. The federal government has no constitutional role here. Outside of expenditures for federal employees and their agreed-upon benefits/retirement, all of these expenditures should be zero. Government intervention into the economy and into people's wellbeing is indirectly socialist by definition but is entirely socialist by intention.
Unemployment insurance 2.3%
Food and nutrition assistance 3.7%
Housing assistance 2.0%
Earned income, Making Work Pay, and child tax credits 3.3%
Supplemental Security Income 1.9%
Federal military and civilian employee retirement and disability 4.4%
Child care, foster care, and adoption support 0.6%
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families 0.7%
Railroad retirement and additional income security 0.5%
Education and Job Training 3.6%of your tax dollars - Is This Socialism? Intervention into education is a fairly recent takeover by the federal government. Again, they have no constitutional role in education and have essentially stolen this right from the states. This, too, is indirectly socialist because it is not a direct governemntal interdiction into the economy but it certainly lays the framework for the collective mindset to be indoctrinated through the school system. This, to me, is one of the most dangerous socialist adgendas. As you might expect, this should not be part of the federal budget and should account for 0%.
Elementary, secondary, and vocational education 2.4%
Student financial aid for college 0.04%
Job training and employment services 0.3%
Employment training for people with disabilities and additional education and job services 0.9%
Veterans Benefits 4.5%- of your tax dollars. Is This Socialism ? Veteran's benefits fall underneath maintaining the world's greatest military and is absolutely a power granted to the federal government by the constitution.
Income and housing support 2.1%
Health care 1.8%
Education, training, and additional veterans benefits 0.6%
Natural Resources, Energy, and Environment- of your tax dollars 2.0% - Although I do believe that some BASIC regulation is necessary regarding natural resources, energy, and the environment, the monstrosities that have become the DOE, DNR, and EPA are an abomination of the constitution. In every way imaginable, they affect theadministration of the means of production and distribution of goods. This is as socialist as it comes outside of direct government ownership. These agencies should be gutted and their budget should be about 1/10 of what they are.
Water and land management 0.8%
Energy supply and conservation 0.5%
Environmental protection and other energy and natural resources 0.7%
International Affairs 1.6%- of your tax dollars - Authority over international affairs is specifically granted to the federal government by the constitution. Although we could argue about the specific strategies and execution of international affairs, it is the federal government's job to attend to this.
Development and humanitarian assistance 0.8%
Security assistance 0.4%
Foreign affairs, embassies, and additional international affairs 0.4%
Science, Space, and Technology Programs -of your tax dollars 1.0% - This could be a slippery slope because many of these programs overlap the military and private interests. It is one of the few places that I advocate goverment participation with the private sector (See, I am not a complete capitalist pig!). As the private sector has become more and more capable of reaching space, I think that more of these expenditures can be transitioned to them. However, a private/public partnership will always be necessary here.
NASA0.6%
National Science Foundation and additional science research and laboratories 0.4%
Immigration, Law Enforcement, and Administration of Justice 2.0% - Immigration should be a cooperation between the states and federal government where individual states can add to but not subtract from the federal laws regarding who enters the US.
Agriculture 0.7% - Another slippery slope, very basic regulation needed but current over-reach by USDA and "food police" is very socialist/collectivist by nature and design. The federal governement and really all government have no business here.
Community, Area, and Regional Development 0.5% - The federal governement has no business in any type of community, area, or regional development. If there is a market to develop it, it will get developed. Again, this is an intervention into the administration or delivery of goods...socialist.
Response to Natural Disasters 0.4% - A slippery slope as there is no constitutional basis for disater response nor any clear cut guidelines as to what that response should or shouldn't be. The disproportionate responses to the South Florida hurricanes vs. Katrina and Sandy are cases in point. If FEMA exists, it should have a very well defined role and budget. It should act as an insurance program funded by the states not a welfare program and political tool. It should most definitely not be used to rebuild homes for people who chose not to properly insure their homes or to bail out state/local/city goverments who failed to institute proper infrastructure, procedures and policies to keep their citizens safe in an emergency.
Additional Government Programs 7.9% - Most of this can be scrapped as it is almost all intervention where the federal government has no authority or business.
Net Interest 8.1% - This will continue to grow in proportion to the above line items unless we get our spending under control. Once the programs and agaencies are eliminated that should have never existed in the first place, we won't have to concern ourselves with taxing everyone into oblivion.
This is where all the tax dollar we currently collect all of them have been in place for decades now, now tell me where you see socialism? I think I made my point above quite clear.
So you're not upset with the military industrial complex raping you for 26% of your salary, but yet you're mad about a couple of cents of a tabaco product that's been proven to kill you. As far as I am concerned, the military budget should account for more than 50% of the budget. Not because we spend that much more money on it but because we eliminate spending money on things that the federal government has no business paying for in the first place. Furthermore, it is no one's business to tell me what to spend my money on whether it kills me or not. It is also no one else's responsibility to pay for my decision. If I get cancer, I will pay for the care. It is a socialist concept for the government to affect the availability or demand of a product. Stating the fact that tobacco is bad for you is a justification for socialist behavior but does not change the fact that it is socialist behavior. America was founded on personal freedom and personal responsibility not collective decision-making and collective responsibility. No system of economics or government is without problems but the American system of government and economics has proven to be one of if not the most effective in the history of the earth. I am not sure why any American would want to fundamentally change that?
