    THANKS HELP does anyone know where to find nfl rules?

    i am looking for a nfl rule on when a player is not considered a rookie any more.
    it looks like an easy question but im looking for the NFL's rule it self.
    example of this not so easy question is this, a player goes undrafted signs to the teams PS gets on the 53 man roster but never plays one down that whole season.we know 53 players do not actually play for each team on sundays because of some NFL rule.is this player no longer a rookie for the next season?
    ok what if he does play and suits up in the last game of the season is that considered his rookie year even if he may be a RB and only play on ST for that one game ?
    what is the actual NFL rule?

    I'd check the New England Patriots web-site.

    My guess is that as long as a player is signed to an NFL team in his first year, whether active roster or practice squad, he would be a rookie regardless of whether he plays a down or not.

    That's what I would think but still cant find anything. In the NHL and MLB players will actually play but not enough to get them out of the rookie status

    In order to be eligible for the practice squad, players must meet one of the following requirements:

    • Have no prior Accrued Seasons in the NFL (An accrued season is six or more games on the active roster);
    • Have one prior Accrued Season in which the player was on the 45-man active roster for no more than 8 games;
    • If served two seasons on a practice squad, are eligible for a third season only if the team has at least 53 players on its active/inactive list for the duration of that player's employment.

    If a players is on a 53 man roster for the first time he's a rookie. It doesn't matter if he plays or not. It also doesn't matter if it's one game or 16 games. So in short what ever season is the first year you appeared on a teams 53 man roster it is your rookie season.

    For the record if you played in the 2010 season but failed to make a team in 2011 and 2012, you would be considered a 2nd year player in 2013 if you made a roster.
