If you were still a contender then yes, it factors in. But the Jets are not a contender. They are a bottom feeder and have been amongst the leagues worst teams the last 12 games.

And again, you refer to the state of the Dolphins instead of focusing on the point. The Jets are a shell of the 09-10 teams. Almost half the starters are gone and the team is in chaos. Mathematically the Jets are alive but the odds are there is no realistic probability they make the play offs.

each year is a new season, if we are smart this offseason we'll have a chance to be playoff contenders again in 2013 so I would never admit we are going downhill longterm.
