This is interesting because despite knowing nothing will come of it, I worry that some of these people are insane enough that they might actually try to start something here. This will be a fun story to follow over the next few weeks...

If I could take your pain and frame it, and hang it on my wall,
maybe you would never have to hurt again...

Of course nothing will come of this just as the petitions in 2000,2004, and 2008. And will be fun the insanity as in 2004 the supposed "mainstream" position...

If at first you don’t secede
Feeling they've lost any say in how the nation is run, liberals are turning to an unfamiliar philosophy: States' rights.
In the days after the election, fantasies of blue-state secession ricocheted around the Internet. Liberals indulged themselves in maps showing Canada gathering the blue states into its social democratic embrace, leaving the red states to form their own “Jesusland.” They passed around the scathing rant from the Web site **** the South, which lacerated the chauvinism of the “heartland” and pointed out that the coasts, far from destroying marriage, actually have lower divorce rates than the interior.
These sentiments were so pronounced that they migrated into the mainstream. Now, though, it’s liberal enclaves that feel threatened by the federal government, and who will likely need to muster states’ rights arguments to protect themselves from Bush’s domestic policies.

Ha, what a bunch of whiny bitches there too. I kind of just stopped paying attention to politics for a while after the 2004 election, so I missed this entirely. People need to learn to act like adults...

And you don't even have to 'work' to get these petitions signed anymore...just get digital signatures on iphones. Will be interesting how this gets ruled when it comes to the Supreme Court as the states rulings have been the digital signatures are as valid as handwritten signatures. Welcome to the 'golden age' of recall elections if this holds up.

Good point Eshlemon, the partisans are so much alike, it is not even funny.
I participate/read 3 political forums, this, the corvette forum, and the turbo buick forum. This one is certainly more left leaning with the other two certainly more right, someday maybe I can find one that has a good balance.
For the most part they have threads on the same topics, just vastly different content. The left can't believe all the stuff the right did to TRY to steal the election, the right can't believe all the stuff the left did to STEAL the election.
Just to bring this back to the top, because it appears some may have missed it, the left was pretty pissed when Bush won, but it was okay then, just not now?

The hilarious irony is that if all those red states seceded, the percentage of the budget allocated to the entitlements they hate so much would actually decrease in America

That's the whole thing about this "entitlement" debate. The highest consumers of entitlement money are red states, yet they are the ones clamoring for it to end. On some level, I hope they get what they wish for and see what it's like to live without food stamps to pay for their 6 kids' meals. They'd probably still blame Obama if that happened, though...

In fairness, most of the people on food stamps and such in those states are voting democrat. Its still ironic and funny that by seceding theyd actually be lessening the load on America of one of their biggest complaints. The president would still be black though.
