Pretty much my thoughts on it as well. I like Tannehill, but he definitely has made some what of a regression since the knee injury and that is pretty clear. We all know how limited his weapons arsenal is but he just has made some real poor mistakes the last 10 quarters or so.

Finding out what Tannehill is made of is the most important thing this season. I certainly expected struggles and 6 TD's and 11 INT's in 9 games certainly shows that . . . but I also realize he isn't nearly as "seasoned" at QB as some of his counterparts and certainly lacks at key skill positions that would obviously aid with his progression. This is a patience thing, but being critical of him is certainly not off the table and the kid has played rather ****ty the past 2 games.
The nice thing is, I haven't seen anything that has made me thing, "holy ****, this guy sucks and it may not be correctable" like I did with Beck. It was pretty clear that Beck didn't have it within a few games. Henne was three times the QB Beck was, but that isn't saying much. It just means it took a little longer to see that some of his flaws simply weren't going to change. He'll have a good career as a back-up QB/transitional starter a la Matt Moore, though not as good as Moore.

I already see the makings of a better QB in Tannehill, but he's still got a long way to go and it's certainly not a sure thing (few things are). As of now, I think his biggest flaws (decision-making, not taking advantage of his strengths like his mobility, etc.) stem from his lack of experience, and there's only one way to correct that...and it's not starting Matt Moore.

He didn't have to force anything. It was 1st down with plenty of time to hit sideline routes. Instead he, as you point out yourself, forces a ball to a double covered, slow receiver in the middle of the field. I'm less concerned with the fact that it was a horrible throw than I am about the decision to throw it in the first place. Hit someone on the sidelines or get out of the pocket and throw the ball away. He needs to start using his mobility more. It's being wasted, but that's another issue entirely. Regarding the much bigger issue, his decision-making the past few games has been horrible. Yes, the WRs suck, but that's not something that happened mid-season. He was making smarter decisions before and he's regressed in the past few games. His accuracy has also regressed a bit, but I think that is tied into his decision-making as well.

Not sure why people think they can't criticize Tannehill AND still think he has a chance to be a very good QB. People don't need to make excuses for him. I have no doubt he sees his deficiencies and is working on them in practice. That's what good, developing QBs do. The ****ty ones point fingers at the lack of talent around them.
A valid point, but how do you know anybody was open on the sidelines? I mean it was no secret that they had to throw to the sidelines, so if you are the defense, wouldn't you take that away? Maybe the middle was the only option on that play.

Missed a key point there. Often times, the best play is throwing the ball away. If one of our mediocre (at best) receivers couldn't get open on the sideline (and why we didn't have Bess, our best sideline target running one of those routes is another issue entirely...), he should have thrown it away. That's a very, very basic principle.

The only thing that really disappoints me about Tannehill is that he folds when the game is on the line. It is so similar to Henne that it's alarming. Now maybe he can grow out of that but as it stands he is 0-4. Plus he didn't put the game away against Cinci or the Rams.
For the umteenth time....Tannehill is a rookie...let him get the experience and get off his back...like he's supposed to perform like a seasoned 8-year veteran...

I guess by the OP's logic Drew Brees all of the sudden blows now too just because he threw 5 INTs in a loss to Matty Ice. Get ****ing real.

MATTY ICE bitches. 11-1. Practically clinched the division already with that victory tonight. Keep hatin.

Unfortunately, he hasn't thrown any TDs either.

But hey, Tannehill will be throwing a bunch of them for us in no time.

Be afraid, Brady. Be very afraid!

I just try to be myself, whatever that is. I don't think about how I'll be remembered. I just want to be consistent over a long period of time. That's what the great players do.

If we want to talk about the Falcons game, how about my boy Mike Nolan snapping the great TD streak of Drew Brees. Kevin Coyle has done much better than I thought he would do. He is far from a problem. However, Mike Nolan is money. He is great DC.
