I was definitely a fan before Dan. But he certainly didn't hurt the fandom.

I am 42 and I became a fan of our Miami Dolphins at age 12. My dad and brother are Chicago Bears fans I was too growing up. I rebelled against them when I heard of the Dolphins (that is my favorite animal) that year they went to the Super Bowl against the Redskins. I went to that Super Bowl XVII at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. I used to live in Rialto, CA and my Dad knew a good friend of his and got us tickets. We lost 27-17.

Then Dan came to our team in '83. No, I became fan inspite of Dan Marino. But, I got to watched the GREATEST QB EVER TO PLAY IN THE NFL which made it even better for me as a fan.

I was a Fins fan in the Griese, Czonka days.

    yes, I am old.
same here bro older than the hills as the ole sayin gose ,i became a dolphin fan when i started watchin david woodley and don strock playin QB for miami and it was right at the end of there career when Marino stepped in as a rookie when both woodley and strock was hurt and shula put danny into the starting role and Marino took off from there , But Danny boy wasnt lost out there he had some very good WRs to throw to and a good TE as well , and seeing him light it up i was just stunned seeing him do that as a rookie ,and the rest is history, lol.

    The Marino Factor

Became a fan when Fins played in the American Bowl in Germany in '92...at the time I didn't know too much about DM yet...so first Fins-fan and then die-hard Marino-fan as well. Go Fins!!!

I became a Miami Dolphins fan in 1970 because of Don Shula and football was just starting to get interesting down here in south Florida.
Before his arrival, it was very Ireland-like.

I was a fan since early 72 season. Dan was great and it was not his fault we didn't win a superbowl with. I did enjoyed watching him play. We were always in the game as lpong as there was time on the clock.

There was a movement to get rid of Dan toward his last couple season, exasberated by his injuries to his Achilles and broken ankle, which lead to his early return to that infamous Dallas game whereas Dan thew several picks. A lot of fans said hisarm strength was gone and his mobility issues telegraphed his handoffs.
