Draft or free agency for stud WR?

I decided to look at the top 10 WRs in the NFL and see if they were drafted by their current team, or if they were a free agent. If the were drafted, I put the round. It's pretty obvious where we need to find a star WR.

    1. Calvin Johnson, drafted 1st round
    2. Andre Johnson, drafted 1st round
    3. Reggie Wayne, drafted 1st round
    4. Wes Welker, undfrafted free agent
    5. Roddy White, drafted 1st round
    6. Demaryius Thomas, drafted 1st round
    7. Brandon Marshall, free agent, drafted 4th round
    8. A.J. Green, drafted 1st round
    9. Dez Bryant, drafted 1st round
    10. Vincent Jackson, free agent, drafted 2nd round.

Very interesting, 7 out of the top 10 WRs were drafted in the first round. The disturbing thing is that 2 of the 3 not drafted in the first round were Dolphins. So basically if we want a true stud, impact WR, we have to use a first round pick. If Ireland doesn't do that this time, he is not serious about addressing the position.

    Thoughts?

Getting a top WR in free agency would allow us to concentrate on other needs with the draft. If we don't get a WR in free agency then by all means we need to take one in round 1 or round 2 at the latest.

I think we need to do both really.

I think that we should do both. Pick up the best we can in free agency and use the 1st round draft pick on a WR, as well.

Both. Stud wr in fa and get a 2nd round wr. IMO, there are none of those receivers in your list above in the first round this year.

I'm ok with that too but if we get a top WR in free agency then I'd not draft one in round 1. Maybe in the 3rd round. I want weapons for Tanny, believe me. But we have a lot of holes. We already have a couple of good WR's but I agree we need 2 playmakers. We also need a TE, help on the oline, a pass rusher, 2 corners and a FS. We also need depth at LB and we're not sure what we really have at RB. I like Miller but we need to see more of him.

Did you both get this from a magazine or something?

Anyway, i'd go with drafting a receiver. In this offense I don't even know what a number 1 guy means, I just know from watching the play of our receivers that we need a big strong & FAST Wr that can get separation at the line. A fast possession receiver if you will. The draft has a few of those types that I would like to see on our team next year. I think Manti Te'o is a no-brainer if he's there for us in the 1st, but if not take the best receiver available.
"The dolphins, which had been cavorting in the surf all along, showed up then. They circled him, keeping the shark at bay, and enabled Endris to get back on his board and catch a wave to the shore."
Dolphins even keep Sharks in check!

I'm not a fan of signing big name WR's and giving them a ton of money, but if we signed Mike Wallace and then drafted Keenan Allen in the first round, I would go insane.
