Leon McFadden is a kid who has tremendous awareness in zone coverage, one of the best I've seen in that area. Plays bump-and-run well in man coverage. Outstanding tackler.

You can't run bubble screens to his side of the field. He's going to beat the stalk block and tackle the receiver for almost no gain every time. Knows when to gamble and when not to based on safety help. Has some recovery speed when he finds himself out of phase... turns and plays the ball the way I like to see when in phase.

Long speed is the only question I have. How he runs is going to be important to me. He's got a lot to gain with me if he can run a decent time.

Luckily for all of us, Will Davis, Leon McFadden, Desmond Trufant, and Jordan Poyer have all accepted invites to play in the Senior Bowl. For me, when evaluating the CB's, I love to see the week's worth of coaching and individual matchups these guys get. Really telling for their technique, ability to be coached up, their ability to show a short memory when making a mistake. For Davis and McFadden, it really offers them a chance to go up against some more elite competition, and show their tenacity and confidence in doing so. I like the combine for the measurables, but watching these guys and their psyches throughout Senior Bowl week is equally enjoyable.

And I know we are in the CB thread, but a guy I would absolutely love to add to this secondary is Matt Elam. Pairing him with Reshad Jones would really upgrade the S spot. Our single biggest knock, IMO, on defense is lack of turnovers and big plays. I like that we have a bunch of solid guys across the board, but we are at the point we need difference makers. Matt Elam is the epitome of big plays. Whether they have him play single high, or drop him down into the box, he makes plays. Typically, the S spot is not very highly drafted, but his skills almost assuredly mean we won't have a chance on him in round 2. I love the way he plays in the run game, and his knack for making game changing plays is as good as any S to come out in the last few seasons.

I'd prefer the Georgia safety, Rambo. But yea, I think the best available DB (corner OR safety) should be one of the first 2-3 picks.
