Probably true to an extent, but his family has Irish mob connections, so they could have gone after their rivals.

I do remember reading once that Sam Giancana got mysteriously murdered shortly before he was set to testify in an enquiry on supposed CIA connections to the assassination of Kennedy. That whole thing is just so thick with questions that I doubt we every really find out for sure what exactly happened.

I'm pretty sure RDS was involved.
