7 new starters for 2013: Heres the plan.

    Re-sign:
Smith (tough call here but much in terms of FA class and we have Noone better)

Hartline (decent 2nd, great 3rd receiver, hard worker)

    Starks (our best D player)

Fasano (decent no2, no other TE can inline block)

    Let walk:
Bush (should be paid like and play the role of 3rd down back; tough call here as he is the only playmaker on O; hoping Miller can step in
And DT can learn how to hold on the rock).

McDaniel (if Odrick kicks inside to pair with Randall, he's expendable).

Clemons (should be replaceable, although wouldn't mind keeping him for depth).

Moore (would love to keep him, but he's going to want more opportunity)

    Cogs (doesnt fit system)

    Needs:

    4-5Starters on O:
1 OT (whatever spot Martin doesn't man, assuming Jake walks)
1-2 OG (cogs an jerry dont fit, 2 needed if samuda can't make the jump)
TE-fasano is our blocking TE, need one with height that can bust the seam an help in red zone
WR- need some speed here please

    3 Starters on D:
1 DE (2 would be nice for depth)
1CB (smith can man the other, should draft 2 here)
1 SS (Clemons is decent depth, but shouldn't be starting)

    total of 7-8 starters needed:

If we can hit home runs and count on our first 4 picks in the first 3 rounds starting (yeah right), as well as 2-3 FA, that should cover our bases.

    Draft 2013:
1 (Trade down, pick up another 3rd)...TE Eifert
    2 DE Dion Jordan...JPP/JT Clone
    2 CB Trufant...need another CB!
3 SS Bacarri Rambo..last name does it

These first 4 picks penciled in as day 1 STARTERS.

    3 OLB Chase Thomas
3 WR Stedman Bailey...IQ, routes, hands
    4 ILB shayne Skov
    5 bpa...rb/OG/OT
    6 bpa
    6 bpa
    7 bpa

    Other teams FA
    WR Wallace
    Starting OT
    Startiing OG

    Offense: 26
3 QB: Tannehill, devlin, rookie or journeyman
3 RB: L. Miller, DT, Gray
    1 FB: lane
    6 WR: Wallace,  Bailey
    WR: Hartline, Mathews
    WR: Bess, Moore/ Fuller
    4TE: eifert, fasano, clay, Egnew
4OT  Martin, FA starter, rd 5-7 pick, McDonald (current PS),
4OG  FA starter, samuda, Jerry, rd 5-7 pick
    1C: Pouncey (Samuda backup)

    24 Defense:
    4DT: Starks, Soliai, Odrick, randall
    4DE: wake, Jordan, Vernon, Shelby
4OLB: Burnett, Misi, chase Thomas, kaddu
    3ILB: dansby, skov, trusnick
    4CB: smith, Trufant, Carroll, Wilson
    5 S:  R Jones, R. Marshall, B Rambo, Amaya

    Denney
    Fields
    Carp

Overall depth still lacking, but definitely an upgrade on starting 22.

Id say 4 Players for being competitive, say a 9-10 win season.

Were more like 6-7 starters, and quality depth away from being contenders I'd say.

Well, it looks good on paper but I'm not sure all of that it's going to happen, specially if Ireland is still the GM but the OP is not far from what we need.

    Ozzy rules!!

Reshad Jones is our SS, and a damn good one at that.

Forget about TE man, we just drafted Egnew, we have had numerous opportunities to draft a TE and Ireland has passed or whiffed, I'll slap him if he goes that direction this year. Plus I'm almost certain we'll be drafting top 15 again, Eifert in the top 15 . . . mehhhhhh. Resign Fasano and run with him, Clay and Egnew next year. You have to atleast give that a year before stressing about TE.

I'm thinking Werner in round 1, but we may have to be top 10 to make that happen and that still could happen. Names I like in round 2 and 3: Trufant, T. Williams, R. Lester, A. Brown, Q. Patton, S. Bailey, J. Poyer. I'm cool with resigning Sean Smith and Hartline, but I think we need to consider moving Marshall to FS and drafting 2 CB's or keeping him there and looking at Lester from Bama at FS and Trufant or Poyer in round 2. I think we do get one of the big named receivers in Free Agency, but we need to draft atleast one more relatively high. Seriously after Free Agency and day 2 of the draft, I fully expect pass rusher, secondary and WR to be fully addressed leaving us to focus on the oline and depth on day 3. There is some good kickers in this draft also . . . just sayin

I would not rely on free agents coming here. Mike Wallace will go elsewhere before he comes to Miami as long as Ireland is the GM. For obvious reasons, top free agents are avoiding Miami like the plague.

I would draft WR and CB with the top 4 of the draft. In the middle rounds zone OG's, and a ball hawk safety.
We need players that can make big plays on offense, and game changing plays on defense.
I would keep the core of the team with no major changes and just upgrade a couple of positions.
    We don't need any TE's...period.
Offer Long a contract based upon his current worth(good but not great$$)..or let him walk.

The flip side to that is that a #1 type WR sees plenty of opportunity in Miami and a young QB who can sling it.

Miami has been a cluster fluk for the past 10 years. It is going to take some time to build stability and attract players.
I am sure that Ross will stick with Philbin through thick and thin. He will get it turned around in short order once Ireland is cut loose and we hire a capable GM..
Ireland already has vultures circling him..he is gone IMHO.
