It was a big mistake not extending Smith and Hartline prior to this season, both of those guys would have jumped at a pay raise and it probably would have saved the team at least 5 million a year.

Incognito and carpenter are both probably goners, that'll save us some money.

I can't believe Richard Marshal is our 4th highest player, thats just a complete disaster. God dam I despise Ireland.

Jones needs to be extended now while hes still relatively cheap. Pouncy, Bess, Soliai, Odrick and Misi should all be extended too.

From what I have seen we have more than 40 mil and there is NO WAY we are franchising Jake. That would be beyond stupid. We also are very likely to let Bush walk, certainly not going to give him some obsurd amount. We can sign Starks, Smith, Fasino, offer Jake 7-8 mil per yr for 3 or 4 yrs and still have 15 mil left. Jake isn't getting long term elite LT money. Not from us and not from anyone else.

That 15 million will be needed to sign Hartline for maybe 4 million per

The draft with the extra picks should be in the 6 million range

we don't have any QBs signed except for Tanny
both Devlin and Moore make close to 3 million

It looks to me that we CAN'T afford 7-8 million for Jake Long never mind 15 million+ to franchise him
don't think Fasano will be back at his bloated salary of over 4 million per

A good portion of the money saved by not signing Long or Fasano would be used to sign our other UFA OR RFA
I doub't very much you'll see this team making a huge splash in free agency

There is absolutely NO WAY that Hartline commands 6-7 million on the open market! Not even close. Smith will not get 5-6 Million per year either. STarks ont he other hand swill cost some dough and you're probably right with the 8-9 assessment there. If the other two want anything more than 4.5-5 just let them go. Neither are consistent and while it would add holes to fill at least we wouldn't be severely overpaying for them.

I think Hartline is going to get more than people think around here, he's underrated and on top of that he seems to be a really smart guy and he's the opposite of a diva. He'll be highly coveted by some of the better coaches around the league.

I know there's reports that we'll be $40million under the cap and it's easy to think we're going to get a few free agents but the reality is the money will go fast and most of it could go to players we already have. This is why I think we need to let Long walk unless he's willing to take 5 or 6 mil a year which I doubt he'll want to do. If we use the tag on him, it'll cost 15 mill which leave us with 25mil. Starks who we must keep will cost 8 or 9 Hartline could cost 6 or 7(I want us to keep him) and Smith could cost another 5 or 6.So just those 3 players might cost us about 20million. You'll need another 5 just for the draft which we have 10 picks including 5 in the first 3 rounds so we might even need more than 5 and that'd put us right at the top of the cap. You still have Fasano and Bush and if they walk then we need yet another TE and maybe even a RB. Now if we do let Long walk we'd have those 15 mil to work with. You can draft a RT in round 2 or 3 for a fraction and keep Martin at LT.Now you can go after a guy like Wallace. But after him we might not have much left for anyone else. Now if we can get Starks, Hartline and Smith for around 16 or 17 instead of 20 you have a chance to get a couple of more guys but tagging Long will mean we wont get any top free agents at all. I know Philbin wants to built thru the draft but you need to use free agency too. We need a proven WR at the very least and maybe a TE. That'd set us up for the draft.

first off we will be closer to 50 mil and imo from what ive been hearing big jake wont be franchised , and unless we an get a deal done on the cheaper end he will not be here next year , it all depends on Martin at LT as to where Long will be in miami next year which i think Martin will not loose the LT spot .

So how do you know what they're going to cost? Do you have some inside info we don't know about? I did say that maybe we could get them for less but we don't know that for a fact. All I know is everyone's going crazy thinking we're going to have tons of money for free agency but even if we just bring back Fasano, Starks, Hartline and Smith, that right there will cost a lot of money. If we use the tag on Long then there goes another 15. We're going to need at least 5 mil for the draft if not more.

imo hartline will prob get 4-5 maybe 3-4 but noway smith will get 7-8 mil a year NOWAY. closer to 5-6.
