Definitely an improvement. I'd suggest using the current logo's sun and maybe changing the bottom orange (or in your tweak grey) outline of the dolphin navy blue like the top and it would be decent IMHO. Although, I would also prefer a larger eye. I'm fine with the angry orange eye, just make it bigger and more noticable. Making the aqua (blue, finally!) of the dolphin more encompassing and the border slightly less overbearing. Anyway, nice work. That's better than the OP logo, so just few more tweaks and I think we could all get behind it.

I don't think we should be getting behind your tweaks of someone else's original idea. Just a thought.

It isn't too shabby. There isn't enough detail to it that IMO. Make the eye a big larger and have the ring of the sun be proportionate on all sides.

Looks a little better. Try and make the eye larger and maybe throw in some gray to the actual dolphin. I'd do it myself but I don't have access to Photoshop currently.
