    FA Dustin Keller

Knowing that we're building this time through the draft, I'm constantly looking at other teams for free agent targets that might make sense as inexpensive but effective plug-ins. Dustin Keller is one of those for me. He's been the most reliable target on the Jets until this year when he's had injury problems. He's the type of seam threat we've been looking for since Randy McMichael was allowed to leave. He's never been a locker room problem. Finally, his price tag will be more palatable coming off the injuries this year.

Keller is the type of free agent that we can plug in next to a draft pick. I have no clue how the coaching staff views Egnew, but I think we can upgrade on Fasano in those obvious passing situations. We still might need Fasano for blocking purposes and the underneath routes.

First of all McMicheal was average at BEST.

Keller is a good player but not great. For the right price it would be worth it and I would def rather have him over Fasano, but we need a better TE than that. If we are going to take a chance on an injured TE I'd rather pick up Finley.

I second the idea of picking up Finley over Keller. That said, has Egnew been that big of a bust that we are already giving up on our 3rd round selection from earlier this year?

Rather just draft the Notre Dame TE in the first round.

I like that option. Eifert as a 6'6 seam threat and matchup nightmare would be fun to watch.

Sure, Jermichael Finley looks like a good FA option in terms of potential performance, but is he really the best fit. He's not totally lived up to his potential, and he's had a down year in his FA year. If anyone knows him best, it's Philbin, so I would trust his opinion. I would also be hesitant about Finley given his comments this year about not getting the ball thrown his way. Do we really need a player like that badgering our 2nd year QB? Just something to consider.

That is a good point, but like you said Philbin would know if he should be here.
