Artist Takes Every Drug Known to Man, Draws Self Portrait After Each Use

is an artist from Washington D.C., not just any artist though. Saunders prefers to take a more unconventional approach to his artwork.

Arguably his most interesting project, entitled DRUGS is described as follows:

“After experiencing drastic changes in my environment, I looked for other experiences that might profoundly affect my perception of the self. So I devised another experiment where everyday I took a different drug and drew myself under the influence. Within weeks I became lethargic and suffered mild brain damage. I am still conducting this experiment but over greater lapses of time. I only take drugs that are given to me.”

Below, you can view a collection of portraits Saunders drew while under the influence of various substances ranging from cocaine, to marijuana, to DMT. Each portrait is an astonishing look into the mind of someone tweaked out on drugs, something that your eyes will surely appreciate.

I only have 1 issue with this.

There's a drawing for during/after doing DMT, but, an effective dose of DMT puts you to sleep; if he was able to draw something during the DMT trip itself, he didn't do enough.

I find it amazing that he is still alive. Some of those drugs are hardcore **** and not really the kind of thing you do once just to try and then never do again. I dont think Ive ever met someone who did meth and didnt have a legit drug problem. But whatever. Glad he has sacrificed his personal well being and health so that I can be amused briefly on the interwebz. Seems like a noble cause.

I dunno. Maybe he realized he didn't have enough talent to become famous the regular way, so he pulled a Robert Johnson, except for real.

Wish he wouldn't have done some of the more harmful drugs. Would still be a cool experiment if he avoided the meth/coke/bath salts/prescription drugs/nitrous/pcp, etc.

Nitrous isn't that dangerous, at least I don't think. When I was in college two friends and I built our own cracker out of pvc pipe and did a few sessions. The effect doesn't last long but it's definitely one of those drugs you want to do sitting down.
