What stores do you miss that are not around anymore?

The wife and I were trying to remember the store where we used to buy cassettes and records when we were younger. This brought up a good convo. I am probably a lot older than most of the lounge rats but what stores that are gone do you miss or it's just weird that they are not around because you were so used to them?

Camelot music store is the one we were trying to think of. they used to be a staple in malls to get get your music media , I haven't heard of them being around for many years. Hickory farms was neat too, do they still have those at malls?

Any music store, really. I love ordering stuff online, but nothing beat going into a store and trying your luck on a band you've never heard before.

I miss going to big hobby stores and seeing models of planes and trains and cars. I don't have near enough patience to build anything like that but I appreciate those who do.

It's not so much a store but I miss arcades. Nowadays kids just play games on their phones but I miss the sights and sounds of a well appointed mall arcade. I miss holding down a Street Fighter console for a half hour as everyone tries to beat you. I miss five kids all huddled around Cruisin' USA taking turns to see who can post the fastest lap time in the Las Vegas desert level.

One of the highlights of my childhood was going down to Grand Prix Race o' Rama in Dania once a year with my father and brother for a day of arcades and go karts. What a glorious ****hole that place was. Then we'd hit Char Hut on the way home. Great times.

Woolworths......I cannot count how many hamsters, gerbils and goldfish I made my mother and grandparents buy me out of that place. Of course the damn hamsters and gerbils always get out and roam the house until they "mysteriously" disappear. The other kids and that metropolis hamster cage, you know that one I'm talking about, three wheels, three or four stories and six little side houses.............well mine looked more like the slums of Brazil all cobbled together with duck tape and glue lol, of course that's why the ****ing hamsters kept getting out.

The fish, of course, have a self life of 0.2 seconds except that one fat ****er that lived for like 10 years or some **** like that.

They used to have more Godfather's Pizza places here, but now they are only on a military base....I also miss Krispy Kreme....they used to have several stores here but I guess they have lost a lot of business with more people trying to eat healthier. I didn't eat these donuts all the time, but now and then you kind of had to have one.

    Wawa.

That was the best thing about living in the North...but now they're springing up in Florida...and now I live in South Carolina.

We have Quik-Trip which is a lot like Wawa...but it's just not the same.
