But at what point do we devalue life enough to exterminate it. And because we feel some measure of joy and justice when someone evil dies, doesn't that lower us somewhat from what we would be?

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life
I don't know if we can devalue it any more than we already do when 26 people, including 20 young children, get slaughtered and we collectively do nothing about it.

Im not sure theres a black and white line. Id say its more of a general feeling that someone is pure evil. I honestly dont think it lowers us at all to have hatred of the handful of most evil people in the world. I think when we as a people reach the point where we dont want people like Hitler dead, thats when we will have a problem.

So, there is no hope for a society to rise above bloodlust? We should stop trying?
Dead is dead...and it comes to us all in time.
While i agree its not black and white, but i believe there is a line. When someone else tries and exterminate others or take away from their ability to make choices(and death has a way of depriving people of their decision making abilities), they themselves should be eligible for extermination. Again, its not black and white and all situations should be judged and considered carefully. But there is a line.
