Dolphins are not a very masculine mascot to begin with, don't expect a logo of Jaws, expect Flipper

FTR, I don't think anyone is saying the dolphin should have spikes coming out its head and be armed with a machete, but a logo that doesn't look like it should be on a box of tampons would certainly be nice.

May I put it bluntly? It's bland and boring as all hell and to quote several different posters, it draws high resemblance of a hotel logo. Yuck. I highly doubt Dan the Man, Griese, and JT cosigned that heap of steaming dog shish.

It's a new look & feel yet not a DRASTIC change to the current logo. The logo has more of an aggressive look to it with some sharp colors that hit.

I can't really explain why, but that logo reminds me of something an NHL hockey team would use. That orange is way too red to represent this team.

It is highly probable that the Dolphins are hoping to make a uniform change that has more of a retro look. If that is the case, this logo would clash horribly with the uniform. The uniform and the logo must work together. If the uniform is going to have a retro / classic feel, the logo must also have a retro / classic feel. That is why I think we are seeing a leaked logo that is more a symbol, than a cartoon.

Yet, apparently the Cro-Magnon population of the Dolphins fanbase associates simplicity with femininity (or even homosexuality for the more homophobic fans in the crowd). I don't quite grok that POV, but it is what it is...

I just showed this logo to my mother. The words "girly" and "effeminate" were used. She said- and I quote: 'If I was a guy, I would never walk around with something like that on my chest'.

I think this is exactly what the Phins organization was looking for. They leaked the logo and now are waiting to see what the public thinks. There is no doubt in my mind it was leaked on purpose. Now they can go back and change it if they want.

These decisions aren't made in a vacuum. I am sure they utilized focus groups to some degree. They might be using the feedback to make some slight tweaks, but I wouldn't expect them to make a complete overhaul based on fan feedback or you would end up with a Frankenstein logo.
