It might be worth taking this base dolphin and stripping it down just to aqua colors without the navy blue trim to create a more timeless look. If I have time later, I might try that. I really don't think the Dolphins want to go with the modernized look of this logo. They are looking for something more throwback / classic.
This contest is headed for the courts, zuckerburg vs winklevoss written all over it.

That looks good too, although I think the sun ring has a little too much of a red tint to it. I'd like to see that with the old school aqua and orange colors.

If the Dolphins organization was smart and wanted to maximize the $ they could make buy selling apparel with the new logo they would chose like 3 to 5 different designs and LET THE FANS VOTE on the new logo design. How cool would that be???? By the way....I REALLY like the one attached by the person who created this thread. Looks very modern and aggressive.

I still remember seeing a modified retro logo years ago on uni watch. Probably my favorite logo I have ever seen. Unfortunately I have never been able to locate it since.
Dolphins already have that logo on file as they created it for the stadium.

I knew that was the old stadium logo. Regardless, it looks a lot more crisp with the sun behind it. Whether or not its something they're considering I do not know.

leaving the decision to the fans would be a nightmare. do you see some of the suggestions people have made on other threads? 99% of people fear change. The university of california just changed their logo, and it looked wonderful. then the students decided they didn't like it, and complained so much they just went back to the old one. this is a business, and asking a bunch of angry fans what they want, especially when it concerns trying to "toughen up" a dolphin isn't going to end well. leave it up to the professionals.

Notice that the fins now look like an M. It has the traditional pose, but still looks sleek, modern and classic.
