    Bush vs Obama

So last night I was scrolling through my guide and noticed that Fahrenheit 9/11 was playing on showtime. I haven't seen the movie in at least 5 years, so I decided to watch for old times sake.

I totally forgot that when bush was first inaugurated his presidential motorcade was pelted with hundreds of eggs. In fact, it was so bad that he wasn't able to leave his car for fear of a riot. Michael Moore (who also narrated) found it not only funny, but seemingly patriotic that they would treat bush like this.

fast forward to present day, imagine what the outcry would be, if we treated Obama the same way at anytime during his presidency. Just disagreeing with him is grounds for being labeled a racist (we even see it on this board).

Watching this documentary again did take me back to the early 2000's, when liberals tried to pin 9/11 on the bush family and when right wing hicks were scared that at any second a Muslim was going to blow them up. I sure hope I sont look back on today's events 10 years from now and think similarly.

Those people are *******s... Just like the birther people.

Are you saying there's some kind of double standard? I think it's just a difference in the types of *******s on the extreme ends of each side.

Also keep in mind that GB lost the popular vote and basically won that election in the courts. Doesn't make these actions any less trashy but certainly a different scenario than Obamas two landslide victories.

The DNC was protested just this past year, not to mention how movements such as the Tea Party were co-opted by the far right to become an anti-left movement.

And treatment for Obama? Labeling him a muslim, dog eating Kenyan born, socialist, commie, nazi certainly wasnt for the sake of patriotism. And "trying to pin" terrorists attacks on the President...well, how would you describe the entire Benghazi episode?

The treatment has been largely the same. Like the movie poster i linked above suggests, individuals have made entire careers over inciting rage at the President. Much like they did under Bush. About the only difference i can see if Obama hasnt put himself in position to get a shoe thrown at his face. In my opinion that has more to do with Obama avoiding those situations then it has to do with lack of people wanting to throw stuff. He (and im certain Secret Service) witnessed the events of the past and has made an active effort to avoid looking bad.

I will remember you TeddSlimmJr and Spesh, after we win it all, I'll just sit back and laugh with fond memories of my superior football IQ.

Also keep in mind that GB l... basically won that election in the courts.
    That's revisionist history.

The courts did not see a reason to overturn the results of the election.

GWB won the election in the Electoral College. Al Gore was trying to win it in court.
