Dolphins Draft Pick Set - #12

Well, our pick position is now set at 12.
I agree that the win against Buffalo was totally meaningless. If we had lost that game we would be picking at #9, one spot ahead of the Jets in every round.

Jump all over me with that "you NEVER want to lose" B.S if you want, at this point I really don't care, and applaud the Colts for their balls to do it. They must be still crying over such a terrible year in 2011, not.

All I want is Philbin in, Ireland out, and cull the ineffective areas of the roster.

would you have any issues "reaching" for a reciever at 12? I would be all for it bht the perception seems to be that its too high for Allen/Hunter.

Jump off a cliff for all I care. At the time we won that game we were still in the playoff hunt, so that win was not Meaningless.

hunters awfully raw as a route runner but explosive as heck...i think it will be a few years before you get big return with him...keenan allen i think is ready from the jump...and fits a need...i keep hearing he's a pain in the rear off the field but just about all these wrs have had issues...so i don't know that would deter me...

i don't consider keenan allen a reach at #12...especiallu if he runs in the mid 4.5's or better like i think he will...

mingo would be my #1 target as a pass rush specialist...and i like jonathon banks at cb who would give this team something it desperately needs at cb...ball skills and instincts

it would be one of those 3 for me...banks has serious upside and terrific length...his best footballs in front of him imo

Not only that, the difference between 9th pick and 12th is virtually nothing. Im sure if you look back there have been just as many good players and just as many busts taken in both slots. Its all about selecting the correct player when it is your turn to pick.

    Having said that......

Hoops, Slimm, CK....??? Give me 10 guys who could potentially be the selection at that spot. Dont just give me players you want us to take or players at positions you think we should take. Give me 10 players who could be there at 12. Dont assume a guy will be taken 5th and leave him off the list.

I know I want to go offense with every pick this year, but I will discuss that more in the get real thread. I might be tempted to take a pass rusher at 12 depending on who is on the board at the time. I wouldnt reach just to take an offensive player.

How do you figure the Colts tanked on purpose? I hate assumptions like this. Total BS!!!

Ok. I will spill a little of a get real spoiler here.

Again, I wouldnt reach just to take an offensive player at 12. If there is a dominant pass rusher there and he is the best player on the board, Id take him. But, looking at our cap situation and the amount of FA players available in both the secondary and pass rushing areas, I would be inclined to address the defense with all of that money we have. The defense is a veteran D and adding players through FA could be a good blend.

On the other hand, offensively we are relatively young and have a QB who will enter his 2nd year. I see what the Colts did with Hylton, 2 TEs, Ballard, and Luck. I would draft an entire crop of players who would grow together on that offense in Philbin's system. I may add a OL or two through FA, but I would also spend 2 or 3 later round picks on the OL as well. Those first 6 picks I want to go almost exclusively WR, TE, and RB. Skill position galore. Young talented players who grow together in the same system with Ryan Tannehill.

Put an offense together that will make us competative for years. The D is already good enough IMHO to let us compete for whatever goal we want to set. Every team can use more pass rush and more cover guys. Thats what defense is all about these days. You can never have enough. So Id love to add that, but our D is fine. If Mingo is the BPA and a WR is a huge reach at 12, I wouldnt have a problem taking Mingo. But, we need to draft at least 4 or 5 skill position players and a couple OL this year. I would also draft a kicker in the late rounds if there is another Blair Walsh or Legatron out there. If I want to improve the secondary or add a pass rusher, there are quite a few players available in FA and we have plenty of money to do it.
