Sperm Donor Hit W/ Child Support

TOPEKA, Kan., Jan. 2 (UPI) -- A Topeka, Kan., man, a sperm donor in 2009, says he is now being held financially liable by the state for the child he helped conceive.

William Marotta, 46, responded to a Craigslist ad by a lesbian couple, Angela Bauer and Jennifer Schreiner, seeking to have a child.

The couple split in 2010 but continue to co-parent the child and seven others they adopted, ranging in age from 3 months to 25 years.

DCF spokeswoman Angela de Rocha said Monday if a sperm donor "makes his contribution through a licensed physician and a child is conceived, the donor is held harmless under state law. In cases where the parties do not go through a physician or clinic, there remains the question of who actually is the father of a child or children. DCF is required by statute to establish paternity and then pursue child support from the non-custodial parent."

This will never stand up, it is sad you would have to get a lawyer to fight it but it also proved that you should do your due diligence in matters as large as this. You have to love red tape, the article states he gave up any parental rights which I assume involved a lawyer and a legal contact. So be state law he deemed himself not to be a parent and hence has no legal obligation as such. Now on the other hand a separate section of state law demands that he be named the father and hence pay his share of support as defined by the law.

This is like the court dismissing a traffic ticket only to have the DMV put points on your license anyway.

It means you have to go through lawyers and a lot of pay money to make it all legal and "right".

There is no justice in the United States anymore.

It's all about money.

It's hypocritical that women have a right to an abortion, without a mans consent or say to stop it, but a man has to pay the bill, if she decides to have a child out of wedlock.
