Somehow I knew this was coming. Sean "Twitter" Smith wants to Get Paid!!! Hells NO to a $43 million dollar deal. I hope it's more like 5-6 years $30-35 million.

I think 4 years and 24 million would be a great deal, but I do think Smith probably could get a little more than that if he played his cards right. I was thinking more along the line of 5 years and 32.5 million (14 million guaranteed).

If a compromised is arrived at, I see it being something that is incentive based to protect the team,. ( i.e. Sean show us you can catch the ball ). From a looking forward perspective this was the true failure of the Davis trade.. it leaves us somewhat exposed to what Smith may demand.

let him walk he's a bum
In his office Friday afternoon, Philbin pointed to the practice fields outside and said: "Out there is where we're going to find out about Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore and David Garrard. I don't remember a master plan that said, 'Here's when Ryan's going to play.' If there is one, I was never told about it. We'll let them come to work, and the best man will win."'
I could digest 4-5 million. He is not that good.

The thing that Smith has over every other CB on the Free Agent market is . . . the guy doesn't miss games. No question he needs to get that INT total up, but he's a legit starting CB in this league and I still think there is some upside there with him. He flashes #1 ability but he certainly is still inconsistent enough to where I can understand the concerns of people signing him to a contract like this. I like that he can defend against bigger WR's and hold his own pretty well.
I hope Sean Smith wants a ton of moolah so Miami have more incentive not to bring this bum back. Man, I really wish Miami traded Smith to Indy instead of Vontae.

When your defense is near the top of the league at stopping the run throughout the season and you play a bunch of half azz QB's who tend to rely on a main target at WR being guarded by Smith . . . those type of stats will happen. It's the reason why selective stats don't tell the complete story about how a player is doing.

It is negotiations. Smith was on WQAM on Friday and said that staying in Miami is the most important thing to him, not the money. We shall see if he really means it.
