20 mil guarantee is ridiculous for a average Cb! This is where I really hope Dawn Apante digs her stilettos in and says it is what it is sign it or be gone!

I would sign him for the McCourty deal. That will be his market.

It is negotiations. Smith was on WQAM on Friday and said that staying in Miami is the most important thing to him, not the money. We shall see if he really means it.
That doesn't mean he should get short changed because of him wanting to remain with the team. The deal should be a fair one for both sides . . . and I think if 6 years and 43 million is the high point for Smith and his agent . . . that is a good sign that something will get worked out. I seriously thought the high point would have been closer to the 9/10 million a year mark that some of the top CB's get and what FA guys who may not be as accomplished as those top guys start out wanting.

His contract demands are not at all unreasonable. Sorry but people are overreacting to this one.

agreed. 7 mil/year doesn't sound that bad at all. that's maybe a 4 or 5 million salary early in the contract and gets higher later.

What would be the most you would pay to resign Smith CK?

Agreed, $7M a year seems pretty fair. Hell, Marshall is getting $5M and was expected to be a slot cover. I would MUCH rather have Smith over Marshall. IF we could structure something with incentives at around $6M+, I would make the deal. There is little out there in FA, and there are limited options in the draft for two CB's.
