I've been told Dolphins CB Jamar Taylor missed OTAs because he underwent hernia surgery recently.
The recovery time for hernia surgery is not all that long, probably only a few weeks. Should be fine way in advance of training camp.

This just adds to the off-season for our first three draft picks. All of them have had surgery in the last five months.

Better that he has surgery now than during the season.

I had hernia surgery last year, 8 weeks for full recovery, half that if he had keyhole which I'm sure he would have done...

Jamar Taylor - DB - Dolphins

Dolphins second-round CB Jamar Taylor underwent sports-hernia surgery on Tuesday, but is expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp.
Sports-hernia operations typically only require 4-6 weeks of recovery, but it puts Taylor behind the eight ball as he looks to make the transition from the Mountain West to NFL starter. Taylor is currently penciled in opposite Brent Grimes, who is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn Achilles' tendon. The Dolphins have precious little depth at cornerback after deciding to let Sean Smith walk in free agency. They'll really be in trouble if Taylor suffers a setback and isn't ready for camp.

This is really mild laproscopic surgery. He will be fine after a week, two tops.
