    Upset with Stadium Bill Failing?

If you are like me and are disappointed that the Florida House of Reps could not even take the time to look into the bill that would have given the people of South Florida a choice of what happens in their community let it be known to Speaker of the House Will Weatherford. For someone that supposedly wants citizens' voices to be heard, he has a funny way of showing it. Perhaps, his mailbox should be inundated with critical, pithy yet respectful and thoughtful takes from fans and those looking for work.

Whether you liked the Dolphins plan or not, the stunt the Speaker performed was a brazen abuse of the Speakership and should be a reminder to what the man will do in other situations.

Stand up and take your government back...always be distrustful of those that do not want the people to speak or in this case vote.

Who knows?...there's a 50-50 chance this will be looked back upon as the best thing that ever happened to the franchise.

Because this could start a chain of events which leads to us eventually getting a brand new stadium in a much better location...

I still don't understand why everyone is so gung-ho about financing private businesses that can afford to do these things with their own dime...

    Like LA
Or San Antonio as they are very interested in getting a team.

No way. In the longterm it is terrible if the franchise cannot compete with other teams because they have a big time facility.

Florida did this to spring training locals. They tried to be "tough on corporate welfare" and made business tough for MLB teams in their state. So what did teams like the Reds, Royals and Dodgers do? They went for the tax breaks Arizona was offering. A few years later Florida is trying to play catch up.

Florida needs to get its act together.

I am not a Steve Ross guy, but why shouldn't he look at LA? I love the Fins in Miami, but that is his only alternative at this point. IF, IF, IF it means keeping my team competitive, so be it.

Best case is Ross does a 180 and decides to fund the entire project himself(unlikely). Another best case is if they scrap the renovation plans and build a completely new stadium as dirwuf suggested. Though if Ross couldn't get a couple hundred million to help fund stadium work, where is he going to get the help to build a $1 billion+ new stadium?

Absolute worse scenario is that Ross decides this House defeat was the last straw and decides to sell the team. The new owner, who would inherit a stadium in bad shape, could decide to pursue a modern stadium in a location that would help finance it. Somewhere possibly like Los Angeles, London or Chicago(who wants a second NFL team).
