Ireland was only a rising star because the "GREAT" Tuna said he was
BS revisionist history... The guy was well respected throughout the league, just like Gaine apparently is...

before replying to your post, i tried VERY hard to find at least 1 article from the time Ireland was hired that called him an "up & comer" or "rising star" by league sources other than Parcells or Jerry Jones. I could NOT. I'm always more than welcome to admit when I'm wrong, but show me some proof of people in the league calling Ireland a hot candidate.. Did he ever have a GM interview prior to being hired as our GM here? (serious question) or was he just brought along because he helped Parcells "grocery shop" in Dallas?

So much love for Brian Gaine in this thread, and yet no one has bothered to mention any of his positive qualities, accomplishments, or effects on this team.....if he wasn't being "pursued by the Jets" his name wouldn't be anywhere on this damn forum.

This is his second straight year interviewing for a GM gig and reports have said that he's well-regarded. That's all we know.

A lot of people I respect within and outside of the Dolphins respect him and say he will be a top GM... that coupled with wanting a fresh start away from Ireland and a desire for stability makes me want to give him a chance.

Ross must as he gave him the promotion and put him right under Ireland. Perhaps to put some motivation under Ireland as to if the future is not bright his replacement could be in house.
