few years from now, Reshad Jones 5th round 2010 draft.
Whats up with 5 round secondary players being steals recently? Seahawks stole Richard Sherman and Chancellor in the 5th round. We stole Jones...

    Zach "The Legend" Thomas, 1996 - 5th round pick - 196 overall.
absolutely a legend. nobody did more with less, excellent value in the 5th. Anyone who says different is just looking for a ban.

    No question it's Zach Thomas.

Dick Anderson was a sensational pick. I believe it was 3rd round 1968. We were stacked with picks that year but after Csonka none of the next three or four fully panned out. Then we hit the jackpot with Anderson. You could see how smart and aggressive he was, right from the outset. I think he had 8 interceptions as a rookie including a long touchdown return. There was also a punt return at Buffalo, perhaps his second season, when only Anderson knew the rule that the receiving team had no risk if the punt had already been touched by the kicking team but not controlled. Anderson dashed in there and grabbed the ball in heavy traffic, racing down the right sideline maybe 30 yards. Even the Dolphin announcing crew was questioning if it was a legal return.

That was the type of player we had in key spots throughout the early '70s roster -- smart and resourceful. Anderson was up man on punt returns and simply would not let the ball hit the cement Poly Turf and gallop another 25 yards. He was also the backup punter for several seasons and at least once was forced into action and didn't fare poorly.

In a run oriented era, a big hitting strong safety with a nose for the ball was incredibly valuable.

He was a good pick for sure, but I reckon getting Clayton in the 8th round makes him a better value pick.
