That Jake long over Matt Ryan pick looks worse and worse as time goes on.

    Thanks Jeff!

This class of WRs is deep but not top heavy with top 15 talent. I personally want to address WR in FA and draft a pass rusher 12th. I'd like to see us draft skill position players with our top 3 picks and go after a lineman in the 3rd. Obviously you need to go BPA, but linemen and runningbacks I am philosophically opposed to drafting in the top 2 rounds.

While I wouldn't be surprised if this happened, obviously it wouldn't be unprecedented. My hope is that we retain Jake at a more reasonable rate and draft a tackle with one of our latter picks. PFF's stats on Martin's QB pressures has me concerned that he may not be the answer at LT.

Draft WR first (K. Allen only, unless Patterson beast it and workouts). But if this was ever a year to trade down this is the year. I wouldnt even demand much in return (even though i would want alot in return, just might not get it).

We would be better off drafting in the high to mid 20s, especially if we thinking about a OG/OT. Double down with WR/TE in the second round. STL (Dream) or a veteran playoff team (Den/Hou/GB and etc.) who only need a piece here and there and are willing to give up the world to draft someone. (I.E. what ATL did for Julio Jones).

Okay, that may be a pipe dream, but you get the point. No OL and Trade down. WR/TE/DE/FS/CB in rounds 2 and 3. Did not include FA

I'm surprised that none of you have mentioned that: 1) if we address WR in FA, 2) if we address Right Tackle in FA (assuming Jake is not re-signed), 3) AND the BPA at #12 is a lineman....then we should simply trade back and try to pick up an extra second or third round pick.

If we stay at #12, then the pick has to be a playmaking DE or LB as most of you have stated, as there are no playmaking WR's/CB's/TE's (Eifert disappointed me in that Alabama game) / or Safety's worth the pick at 12.

Edit: OK I see the guy above me just did mention trading back....I was typing this as his post came thru - but yeah, trade back if there is no other option.

Why are we drafting a LB? Why on EARTH?

The only reason you draft a LB is if he's a pass rush specialist or a true talent like Jarvis Jones or Barkevious Mingo, who are so versatile they would easily go into 4-3 DE and rush the passer.

Or maybe you just make Misi your situational pass rusher, while moving either of them to full time starting OLB (I likely only do this is Jarvis falls).

Taking a guy like Allen seems like a reach. An understandable reach but a reach none the less. I'm not sure I want Dee Milliner in the top 12 either. Ireland has a lot of pressure on him, and has his work cut out for him.

Why do nearly all mock drafts have us drafting a OT when Ireland has said he will go after playmakers?

Does this prove that they are a waste of time?

Will Ireland really draft a OT with the 12th pick?
if OT is the the BPA at that time in the draft, then i'd support it as long as at least 3 of our next 4 picks in rounds 2-3 are used on playmaking positions

Because nothing in Ireland's past suggests that he will actually go after playmakers.
