i don't think any reasonable person should believe you can prevent shootings with armed guards. just as it is stupid to think you can prevent shootings by having a stupid database, the goal is to minimize.
The database is meant to be used in conjunction with a method where if you're deemed ineligible to own a gun, you're not sold to. Just have a database wouldn't work obviously, it has to lead to something. The alternative would be to do nothing, and that's not working. Guns needs to be kept out of certain people's hands, i.e. those with mental illness. That's the point of the database. Of course, since most people are too ****ing stupid to understand why, they'd probably sell to them anyways, because hey, why should I do anything Obama says? Doesn't matter if he's right or not...

If I could take your pain and frame it, and hang it on my wall,
maybe you would never have to hurt again...

Why would this interrupt a speech? What a bunch of BS. Bush didn't even let 9/11 stop him from reading a story to kindergarteners.

Ill assume you've never shanked anyone from behind, Locke? It's quite impersonal... I like to use a sharpened letter opener.

This was the breaking news that interrupted the Vice President's press conference regarding gun control. Other news sources report that this particular high school has an armed deputy on campus at all times. He was unable to prevent the shooting, obviously. Although this was different in that it seems a particular student was the target, and the shooter brought in the concealed weapon and had intentions of shooting only the one person, so the situations are not the same. But it does highlight the flaws with the whole "more guns, less crime" plan that is being floated around....
It was a shotgun and not a concealed weapon. Let's not forget the facts here Locke. In the last 20 years violent crimes and murders are down 50%. A lot of that happening since the AWB expired. Those are the facts.

I think a lot of people who tend to vote democratic have a hard time accepting the fact that we live in a chaotic world where sometimes bad **** happens, and the government can't pass a law that eliminates all danger. The government can help to solve some problems but at the end of the day if someone really wants you dead, you're in trouble.

Is gun violence a problem? Yep
Can the government stop it? Sure doesn't seem like it.

No, the point of the thread was that the NRA, and others, think that adding armed guards to schools will prevent shootings. This incident makes it obvious it will not. No rhetoric there...
The report I saw stated that there was no armed guard present during the shooting. The armed guard that is usually there was home snowed in.

Gun control in America is a myth.

Even if the gun grabbers pass some restrictions, nothing will change in these scenerios. Those who are prepared to commit criminal acts don't care about laws in the first place. Further restrictions will only impact those of us who own firearms responsibly and care about the law.

I guess it'll give some of my Democrat brethren a warm fuzzy feeling - it's just giving me a sore ass.

Of all of the ridiculous arguments made by the gun nuts, this one is the most logically flawed. Its simply just plain stupid.
