Owner Ross to pay for "substantially all" of the modernization of Sun Life?

The Dolphins Monday plan their grand unveiling of a plan to make between $350-$400 million worth of upgrades to Sun Life Stadium to, as the team claims, make the facility a first-class place for the next 30 years.

The Dolphins are calling this "a modernization" of the facility that opened in 1987.

And here's an unexpected kicker: Ross is prepared to pay for "substantially all" of the freight of this modernization as long as his government partners begin helping him with the cost of running the facility. This according to a source familiar with the Dolphins' thinking.

Hope this happens. I can't stand our stadium. Marlins Park makes Sun Life look like a joke.

IMO the basic flaw is that the seats are too far from the field. I don't know how this could be addressed.

Armando also says at the end of his blog that if the Dolphins don't get that help needed to renovate the stadium, that years down the road when Ross has to sell the team(age) there is nothing holding the Dolphins in South Florida. Poor local support and no stadium upgrades could lead to one very sad day for Miami fans(the ones that still care) within the next 10 years. Though if Sun Life Stadium gets these upgrades, that Ross is paying for mostly out of his pocket, the Dolphins probably cement themselves in South Florida for the next 25-30 years. This is a critical time for the long term future of this franchise.

Maybe Ross should lie and hide his books and then dupe County politicians into paying for stadium upgrades and renovations.

    That's what the Marlins did.

Just build a new stadium.. What's with the upgrades.. Quit fixing the 300,000mile hunk-o-junk and buy a new car with the factory warranty...

Cowboys Stadium cost $1.3 billion and MetLife Stadium cost $1.6 billion.

Wayne Huizenga and Ross have already made some recent renovations to the stadium and the Club section is beautiful. I know everyone wants a new shiny stadium, but Sun Life can still be a top notch stadium, it just needs some upgrading.
