Player Dolphins Working to Lock up SS Reshad Jones

Looks like Miami is trying to get Jones locked up for the next 4 or 5 years. This guy will be great for years to come. Great News.

The Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are currently trying to sign SS Reshad Jones to a contract extension.
Jones turns 25 in February and is entering the final year of his rookie deal. He emerged as a legit top-five safety in 2012, grading out third in Pro Football Focus' ratings behind only Eric Weddle and Jairus Byrd. Jones is a building block for Kevin Coyle's defense. We'd expect him to target a deal similar to that of Raiders SS Tyvon Branch, who inked a four-year, $26.6 million contract last offseason. Branch's deal contains $17.6 million guaranteed.

This needs to happen. It'll give a lot of us more faith in Ireland as well.

After his play in 2012, Jones deserves a 4-5yr deal. Hopefully, Ireland can get this sewn up, but I am not holding my breath.

Dolphins Working to Lock up SS Reshad Jones

One thing I have to give credit to Ireland for is that he rewards players when they deserve it. With Wake and Bess' extensions, if the players work hard enough and produce. They will get what they deserve.
    R. Jones deserves a new contract, and I'm glad this is the first news of the off season.

I hope he doesn't fall off after getting this extension. I know I know people will say I'm just being negative but ya'll know that can happen. A lot of players seem to play their asses of when their contract has is close to expiring and then slack off once they get their deal. I hope Jones isn't one of those players and continues to play at a high level after his extension.

Get it done. One of the best moves we can make this offseason.

That would be an excellent decision. It would be a great way to start what has the makings of a pivotal offseason.

Word, I like it. I was hoping Ireland wouldn't **** around and make Jones a priority. Good stuff. Lock him up Jeff.
