Player Pat Devlin: Does He Have The Goods?

If Moore goes to another team in FA and Ryan gets hurt (that would royally suck) in 2013, can Pat Devlin, in your opinion, handle the starting role? I remember that Philbin was impressed with the guy in preseason.

He looked much more composed this preseason than he did his rookie year. I'm all for rolling with him as backup but I'd still like the team to attempt to bring Moore back, though I doubt he'd stay.

I like Devlin but would rather have Moore back if we could. If Moore goes look for the team to draft a QB in the later rounds. I don't like the FA QB's available.

Draft your backup QG in 3rd or 4th round this year.

Devlin starting is a scary thought. Anyway Tannehill would benefit from working with an experienced QB.

So (IYO) he has the goods like Philbin said back in August. What makes you so certain? Curious.

first off i don't expect anyone else to be playing qb in 2013 other than tannehill...and i'm a big believer off what i have seen tannehill is a future franchise qb and the guy for the next decade...but taking that out of consideration i think devlin is a terrific fit in the timing and underneath quick hitter passing game of a west coast offense...he's not as mobile as tannehill but i think the spread the opposition out and line up in shotgun looks caters to devlins skill set...also his arm got a lot stronger in the 2012 camp than what he had in 2011 and i'm a believer that this kid will take care of the football which is huge in a qb...i'm not sure he has a huge over the top nfl arm and can throw say 18 yard comebacks from the opposite hash but he's got enough arm for this o...

and regardless of what anyone else says off my study matt moore is not a good fit as a option route timing and accuracy qb...he's too errant and his timing is too off at times...his underneath accuracy at times kills drives

Devlin has the tools for this offense, he is now going into his 3rd year. I think he could surprise us next preseason. That said RT is the starter.
matt Moore is going to take the money and run.
