Dude better get A LOT stronger if he is going to play right tackle. He is weaker than Martin and Martin isn't strong by an stretch of the means for a lineman.
    How do you know this?

OL is not so much about strength to me as it is about technique. Jake Long is one strong dude but lost his technique and balance alot in new system.

I have no problems with the Yeatman experience and so far he has the weight so he just needs to put on the muscle but I say dont be surprised. If we resign Garner then maybe RT is not as big an issue.

but people around here are intrinsically negative.

I like the fact that we are developing talent that is on this roster. If you look around the NFL there are several starters on playoff teams that have made a trip through Miami and not 'stuck'. I think there has needed to be an focus on developing the players that we have here, as well as acquiring new talent.

Interesting that this guy at rantsports.com stole my information and re-wrote it as his own inside info. In some circles we call that "plagiarism."

Yeah when I started reading it I thought "didn't I just read the exact same report word for word somewhere the other day"? There you have it.

Obviously, position conversions are rampant at the collegiate level. It's very common for a high school TE to transform into an OT in college, or for a LB to turn into a DL-man or a RB to become a LB or DB.

It's less common at the NFL level. Keith Traylor is one who comes to mind as a college ILB who converted to DT.

But the Dolphins have seen success with the exact situation Yeatman find himself in. The Dolphins had an excellent blocking TE named Ronnie Lee. Shula loved his blocking. I believe he played TE for a couple of years and then converted nicely to a RT and started for the Dolphins.

I base my assumption off the fact that Yeatman put up 225 sixteen times on his pro day in 2011 and Martin put it up twenty one a year later. Martin's total is considered low for a tackle. However this may or may not by true at this point with an extra year in the league for Yeatman but honestly even with the extra year I doubt it mattered because you can only physically gain so much strength in one calendar year. If he is on par with Martin right now, they both still need to increase their overall strength heading into this season.

The good news is strength is obtainable.

That's the misconception. The 225 bench for these guys doesn't measure functional strength. A true measure of strength is how many pounds can he lift for 3-5 reps, or better yet, a one rep max.

If you can put 225 up 16 times, that's more about endurance.

Gallery and Wade Smith were former TE who failed miserably at the OT position but turned out to be pretty darn good guards. Add Steinbach to the list and that makes 3...

So if not OT why not give him a shot at guard?
