I've been seeing a lot of vastly differing opinions lately.

I'm curious where everyone here stands on gun control in America.

I don't have a problem with the laws we currently have on the books.

Further restrictions are, IMO, ridiculous knee jerk reactions to correcting the wrong problem in our society today.

I see no need for anyone to own anything other than pistols, hunting rifles, and shot guns. I've read/listened to several former military and law enforcement officials insist that a shotgun is the best weapon for self defense. With that in mind, I voted for "Bolt/pump/lever action ok, no semi-autos." Unless you're Scarface and need to defend your mountain of cocaine from an incoming army of drug-dealers, I simply can't fathom when you'd need more firepower than a shotgun to protect your family...

Scarface used automatic (select fire) weapons. Semi-auto means, for each pull of the trigger one projectile is fired (though the gun does cycle the next round of ammunition into the chamber)

Honestly, I was just making a joke by bringing up Scarface. But the point is valid. Unless you're expecting to be ambushed by a group of armed men, why would you need anything other than a shotgun? And if you're expecting to get ambushed by a group of armed men, chances are you are doing something in your life that you really should reconsider...

Actually hadn't thought about. Good point, my friend. Whenever I think about a semi-automatic weapon, I think of rifles. Would I be correct in assuming that combat shotguns are the ones that tend to be semi-automatic...?
