Not at point blank range; no. But "assault style weapons" seldom use 9mm pistol cartridges, unless you're talking about a Mac or an Uzi. The "assault style weapons" usually fire 5.56mm or 7.62mm NATO rifle cartridges (or 7.62x39 or 7.62x54 Soviet). They are much more deadly at a much greater range than a 9mm semi-auto pistol.

The fact of the matter is that regardless of the changes in circumstances, logic is eternal. Circumstances may alter the application of the logic but the logic doesn't change. Similarly, the nature of man doesn't change. Man has always been affected by fear, driven by greed and selfishness, prone to jealousy, and driven mad by lust. We haven't always had the access to avenues for which to express the aforementioned natures that we do now but they have always been prevalent. Thus, the reasoning and logic behind the US Constitution is every bit as applicable and pertinent today as it was more than 200 years ago.

Did anyone even read the details of these new backround checks if passes. What the politicians fail to mention is that included are rules that make it essentially a felony to transport a firearm.
Any misstep transporting your gun/ loaning your gun can lead to confiscation and ban on ever owning a gun. Read up on it. Very scary.
