Jennings, Cox, Keller or Cook. The only reason I'm not saying Michael Johnson is because I think he'll be Franchised!!!
We are taking out the trash this year. That means no more Hartline, Smith, and Clemmons. We're bringing in Playmakers finally.
Jennings is perfect for our team with hreat character, route-running, and hands. Not to mention great production in Philbins' Offense.
Cox is a very solid CB that makes plays also. 12 ints in 4 years is what this team is missing!!! Sean Smith would need to play 20 years to have that many ints!!!
Keller or Cook to stretch the middle of the field would be great. I do like Fasano but he seems to only catch a few balls a game and is not a threat with the ball in his hands. We need an upgrade and either of these two would be awesome!!!
Now getting to the Draft. Allen has been a stud since his very first game as a true freshmen. He is basically a one man show at Cal and has maybe the worst QB of all the WR prospects. He still runs great routes and gets open despite bracket coverage. If you watch his game films and not just highlight videos, you'll see how many TDs were left on the field from bad throws by his QB. I think he is the only WR option at #12. Jennings and Allen would be a dynamic duo for this team!!! Sprinkle in some Bess and Cook or Keller and we could be a top 10 passing Offense. Tannehill's TDs would more than double and that's what we need to be a playoff team.
Patterson is a playmaker but still a little raw. He only has a year of division 1 experience and hes not even the best WR on that team, Hunter is the #1. Da'rick Rogers would've been ahead of him too if he hadn't transferred. Quinton Patton is going to be a stud in a few years if he goes to a team with a good #1. He has been great at the Senior Bowl practices but is still 2nd rounder for now. If he runs under a 4.4 at the combine, that changes things. I like Baileys' production but I think he'll have a hard time getting open in the pros unless he becomes an exclusive slot receiver. He's very quick but his size does not make him a good fit for an outside WR. I also think a lot of his production was generated by the system and his QBs ability to leave the pocket.
If CB Desmond Trufant makes it to our first 2nd, we better take him. He is first round talent and has been the best CB at the Senior Bowl practices. He has great cover skills and great bloodlines as well ( younger brother of Marcus). A lot of teams would shy away from him in the passing game. Sean Smith was the most targeted CB in the NFL, get the picture??? Smith and his 8+ million a yer demands needs to go!!! Trufant and cox would give us a very solid CB duo for years to come.
With the 2b pick, I would target S Baccari Rambo. The guy just makes plays!!! Great size, speed, hitting, and hands to pick the ball off. When's the last time we've had a Safety with more than 3 ints??? Brock Marion??? That's my point. He was also Reshad Jones' college teammate and an incredible need for this team.
With the 3a pick, I would target DE or Tackle. My hope is that Datone Jones will be available. He has great size at 280, good against the run, and is developing into a good pass-rusher. He has been very solid at the senior bowl practices so I fear he will be taken before this pick. If he's not available, I would target T Brennan Williams. Williams is 6'7 and 310lbs and is built for the ZBS we run with great athleticism. He was very productive in college and blocked for one of the best runners in the ACC over the last 3 years. He should drop due to a shoulder injury that ended his senior season.
With the 3b pick, I would target DE Tank Carradine if Datone Jones wasn't available at 3a. Carradine was a wrecking machine for FSU after Brandon Jenkins was hurt. This guy would possibly be a first rounder if he hadn't tore his ACL late in the year!!! He has very good size at 6'5 265lbs. He is very quick with great closing speed, evidenced by 11 sacks And 9 hurries this year in 12 games and 5.5 sacks the year before as a back up. he'll most likely rehab this year but that's ok because the draft is about building for the future.
4th round I would target TE Joseph Fauria as a Redzone threat. He is 6'7 255lbs and a capable blocker as well a TD machine!!! He had 45 catches for 620 yards and 12 TDs this year. He had 39 catches and 481 yards with 6 TDs the previous year. Adding Fauria with Keller or Cook would be an amazing combo that would give LBs nightmares!!! We need this type of production because we all know how terrible we are in the Redzone!!!
5th round I would target G Omoregie Uzzi from GT. 6'3 305lbs very strong and moves very well. Has helped GT finish top 4 in rushing over the last 3 years. He would be Great for our ZBS because he moves laterally very well so we could have a Guard that can finally pull instead of running into our center!!!
The rest of the draft which hopefully include a comp pick or 2 would be for depth purposes like LB, CB, OL, WR, or even RB.
This plan would make the Receiving core go from worst to possibly first and the secondary would be loaded with playmakers. The Oline would be upgraded with Athletic linemen from productive running teams and the DE position would be upgraded as well. I can't imagine how happy I would be if this plan became reality!!! This would make us a Super Bowl contender overnight!!!
