Three months from tonight we will be making arguable the most important picks in the past decade or two. Five picks in the first THREE rounds. Lets hope Ireland is focused and gets it right.
I just don't think we can afford to re-sign Jake Long. I think if Eric Fisher is on the board, and not taken by the Chargers at #11, then we grab him. Fisher is 6'7", 305, and has way better feet and movement than Long ever had. I know many of you are saying you will kill Ireland if he takes an OL in the first round, but we probably will have to as I don't see us sticking with Long, and Martin needs to go back to RT.
I think we will sign a #1 WR through Free Agency.....my guess is Greg Jennings. We can then focus on someone besides a WR in round one. I really like Desmond Trufant, the Washington Huskies CB. He held his own against Pac-10 WR's in games I watched and has two brothers in the NFL...Desmond is going to be better than both of them.
West Virginia's Stedman Bailey is as good a WR as Tavon Austin....he may not be as fast as Austin but I think Bailey has better hands and can bring the ball in against taller defenders. Bailey is great at adjusting to the flight of the ball and timing his jumps. Bailey just needs to add some bulk, but should be able to compete for a #2 or #3 WR spot.
Carradine, Dobson and Sims all fulfill our biggest needs and are guys who can play right away.
