I think if they can't agree to terms they have to franchise him. If you disagree who do u suggest they pick up? A first round pick on a tackle? or try Will Yeatman at RT?

I'm not franchising him at 15 million dollars. We won games without him and we have lost games with him, he's been hurt 3 years in a row and he isn't a great fit in the system.

What do we do? You bring in more playmakers like you have planned to do and you go from there.

FA OTs: Vollmer, Loadholt, Bushrod, Clady, A. Smith, Albert, Beatty, Cherilus, S. Baker, R. Harris, Long. That's a lot of OT's. Not all will resign with their teams. I think it will be a buyer's market and Long is in for an unpleasent suprise. I think the Dolphins have some flexibility here. Whatever OT can be signed, whether a LT or RT, Martin can play opposite. Plus, the draft has some very compatent OTs this year.

Re-sign. If not, you got to tag him. By tagging him you eventually workout a long term deal or trade for picks.

Neither one of them are still playing. However Bryant McKinnie and Joe Staley are the left tackles for the teams in the SB. Both are very good.

Joe Staley is better than Long and would you like to know Staley's contract? 6 years 28 million, 4.6 million average annually.

Though his contract starts at 1.8 million his first year and goes up till 2017. I'd like Staley on my team over Long any damn Sunday. Much more dependable and consistent and an overall better player.

Sorry OP but franchising Jake Long is pure madness. Essentially you'd be paying him twice what he is worth with the tackle franchise tag around $15 million.
