I stopped caring about voting when I realized it's too political and about voting for your friends.

I had a good year some years back and didn't win squat. Same people win usually.

Yeah, I respect that you guys have your customs and whatnot. That's why I deal with it (sigs are turned off btw) and just come here to get what I want out of the place. I'm just suggesting that you consider the broader base. I'm a supermod at another very large forum, (+7.7 million posts, almost 250k members) and I see a lot of these things as just silly. No harm meant-- just my opinion. The bigger this forum gets, the more unmanageable all these things will become anyway.

I can't agree with that. Voting for president should be mandatory or severely encouraged, IMO. On message boards there's too much of a clique mentality, and discouragement of contrary opinions. For example, on a Canes board the other day I responded to a lengthy attack on the USC campus and surrounding area by detailing what it's actually like as a student there. Almost immediately the thread was bombarded with posters taunting me by saying they left negative reputation. Well bully for them. I don't even know what that means, other than apparently I wasn't supposed to like it. Meanwhile, if I cared what people thought then around here I wouldn't say I like the Jets and I hated the Marino era. I do like the Jets and I did hate the Marino era.

I'm a VP member here but almost never post there, or even venture into the forum. That might be a poor decision but it was spurred by my early visits to the place, after I apparently was voted in. One poster after another in there was having a jolly time deriding this forum, and specific members. The popular term for this forum was, "The Zoo," as in...I just visited The Zoo and now I need to get back here and take a needed bath. That type of snobby thing. To be fair, I don't know if that attitude persists but it was enough to turn me off immediately. It reminded me of Las Vegas sportsbooks when a big bettor is approached by an everyday guy, asking for a bit of advice, and the whale acts as if he's been wronged if they approach within 10 feet of him. I always have more fun nearby the $5 parlay crowd and that holds true here.

I expected to participate in the voting process here for the first time this year but decided against it. The draft forum, for example, was simply too tough to call. Other forums I had no idea. Some categories it appeared were almost written for certain posters to win, while other logical categories were absent.

Voting at this time of the year probably lends itself to lower numbers. Hold it in the heart of the season and I'm sure the participation would be markedly improved.

The bold part raised a flag to me. Perhaps you have already explained this in another thread and my apologies if you did. If you wouldn't mind, please link me to that thread because I would love to see the explanation behind this. If you haven't already explained it, I would love to hear it when you get a chance.

Since you love Vegas comparisons, it is like a guy enters a casino and yells out "I love Canada and hate the 4th of July". Then when he gets carded it is revealed he is from the United States. Square peg in a round hole.
