I didn't care either way, until looking at versions minus the helmet. Now I think we need the helmet, as margin for error.

Minus the helmet, all the spotlight is on the shape and appearance of the dolphin. If it's too long or too mean or with a poorly angled tail, or not the best color, that's all you notice. The helmet acts as a softening or distractive device.

If I trusted this regime to make the correct call, I'd gamble on no helmet. But since I know their track record and value system, we better stick with the lid.

If I had to guess, I'd say the helmet will be gone.

What about no helmet and the dolphin carrying a football?

I think they are trying to take a step back from cartoony.

Or we could go the route of a complete logo change much like the university I played basketball at that the Dolphins practice at in Nova Southeastern University. They were the Knights but switched their logo to Sharks, fiercer and much more logical and local logo change. I love the dolphins but the uni's and logo are definitely girly in a grown mans league....just sayin.....I love them regardless....

I'll have to pass on the Sharks or any name change. Style of play dictates perception, not uniform. There was nothing "girly" about the Dolphins when Ricky Williams was running over LB's in his prime not to mention what #39 did back in the 70's.

the helmet was/is great, it gave the dolphin character. its almost like why did the Chevrolet designer/engineers ruin the Corvette body design after the C-3 design?

    ego....?

To leave their brand on it...?

I know. These are some of the current NFL logos that are NOT "cartoony": Bengals, Giants, Raiders, Chicago, Green Bay, Steelers, Browns, Cowboys, Saints. The rest are cartoons. Maybe we can get some idea of how our new Dolphins logo MIGHT look from these teams.
