Is this you or ROTO talking? "No shortage of teams willing to gamble" by paying him $10M+??? All I know is you better not be gambling with $10M of your salary cap. Let him walk.
    That was Rotoworld.

I think with Long, Hartline and Smith you have to compare them to the rest of the free agent pool. The question is, can you find a player as good or better elsewhere for similar money? In the case of Long, you can most likely find someone better suited to your offense for less money regardless of whether Long regains his form or not.

You raised one point and then argued a different one. What kind of splash do you think Miami is planning on making? Do you think we are planning on signing Jennings, Bowe, Wallace, Bennett, Byrd, Flacco, Clady, Cromartie, Cook, Reed, and a Keller to boot? No. Miami is likely signing one big name receiver and a few mid tier guys. Maybe one more big name guy, tops. Long's tag number will do absolutely nothing to impede that. With a few restructured contracts Miami can have up to $60mil if they so needed. Long's contract is merely a long term vs franchise tag vs can we net us a good pick by doing so ordeal. Affecting us signing the players we need this offseason? Uh, uh. None.
franchise tagging jake long coming off the last 2 seasons return is the definition of cap mismanagement...
hoops scoops...prospects mia should target top 4 rounds 2013 draft...

I like Jake, it's ashame how our #1 over all pick has run into so many injures (it happens) forcing us into a really tough position. If he was Jake Long of 3 years ago, his asking price is a no brainer. Jake is setting the bar for his previous accomplishments, I wouldn't be apposed to them paying him what he wanted as long as it was incentive based, if he thinks he can be the Jake Long of old, then let him earn/prove it.

However, I tend to agree with Rotoworld, I have a feeling there are at least 2 or 3 teams willing to gamble on him for his asking price. Chicago is one that comes to mind.

Why are people mad that Long wants more money?
I'm not mad that he wants more money.

We all want more money. Doesn't mean that we're worth it or that we should get it.

Of course long wants more money. He knows this is his last payday, because by the time this contract is up, his body will be done. (probably before this contract is up)

All you guys that are pushing Long out the door better hope your boy Ireland who almost all of you do nothing but bad mouth has a contingency plan. Good LT's are not easily come by and that's a fact.
Who is the good LT? Is not like we are letting Richmond Webb go.
