Since when is Jason McCourty a "game changer"?

The contract Smith and his agent are asking for is what you pay the kind of player that the Dolphins describe Sean Smith as being.

    This strikes me as posturing.

In all honestly, and I've said this before, that starting spot for negotiation at 7 million a year seems very reasonable and still does. He isn't an elite CB, and he's not asking for elite CB money. He's asking for solid starting CB money which he is. I've looked at almost every CB on the market and most of them have had injury issues or they are getting up there in years.

This is like the backup QB argument . . . everyone wants the starter gone until the backup gets in there and ****s the bed. Everybody wants another CB until they perform worse than what you already have. Smith is solid, hell he's the only thing that resembles solid at CB on this team. We'd be silly to not resign him within reason, and 7 million a year is within reason.

Agreeed, $6-7 million per year is pretty reasonable for an average starting CB who is still young and entering his second contract.

My only issue is the length of 6 years. I think signing a 3 or 4 year contract would be ideal for Miami, or at least being able to void the last 2 years without consequence.
