LED or Plasma?

You really can't go wrong with any of them. They definitely each have their pros and cons.

Plasma still has burn-in issues, although they are better it can still happen and the power consumption is much greater. The pros of the Plasma over the LCD and LED are minimal, it's like having $100,000 verse $100,100. To me the power consumption alone makes up the difference, just place your hand near the face of a plasma verse an LCD/LED.

I am a plasma fan, my buddy has a panasonic plasma and its amazing. Its so clear. And the other posters are correct you get a nice TV for the price with a plasma...and they are more stylish to me as well.

Thanks for the input guys. I am now concerned about the heat issue with the plasma. My wife likes to turn the tv on when she gets up and it stays on until bedtime (I think she has an ocd with having background noise

I definitely recommend LED/LCD. Much lighter and easier to move, cheaper to fix if something goes wrong, and less power consumption. I bought a Samsung 42 inch LCD 4 years ago, and it still runs like it's brand new. I use it pretty frequently for gaming, and the wife likes to listen to music on it, so it gets used a lot. If you go LED/LCD, I highly recommend Samsung...

Glad to hear this Locke. Im still pretty pissed about the Vizio going down so easily and so little use. My brother is going to pay to have it fixed to the tune of 400.00 on top of the 900.00 I had orignially spent on buying it. So im done with Vizio and have been thinking about going with Samsung for some time but wanted to hear from people who have there products. I do not want to buy another lemon if I dont have too.

One benefit of plasma, though is that you have a significantly higher refresh rate. The picture quality is generally better, but it is more fragile. I also talked to a guy at Best Buy who also works for Panasonic who told me that a lot of the burn-in issues are kind of overblown and pretty much any HD TV can have them if you leave it on the exact same screen for too long. My parents also have an LED and an LCD TV, and both of them are great. Like I said, each have their pros and cons.

Interesting. Well if that's the case I don't think you could go wrong on any variety. If money is an issue I believe sometimes Plasmas are more affordable. It also depends on what type of room you're putting the TV in.
