if the Pats don't re-sign Welker and his $9.5 million contract they will have a great chance to
get whichever free agent WR they target.
If you were Mike Wallace and both Miami and the Pats offered you the same amount of money which team would you want to
play for...try to be honest/realistic
I think Hartline has to be paid by Miami. You could draft the best WR in the draft and it would still take him 2 years to be as good as Hartline is now.
Being that skill is the sum of talent+experience, Hartline's experience makes him pretty necessary for this team and for 5 million a year you'd have a pretty monster hole to fill and it would cost you more money down the line. 2013 has to be a playoff push for Miami. There's too many older players on this roster that will start declining in 2014 so their window is closing. Now way can you be inexperienced at the WR position, even with Jennings. I mean, you can't have just 1 #1 WR and then a dropoff into oblivion. That's what 2012 was about. Even if we drafted the best WRs in the draft it just takes awhile for rookie WRs to get good.
I had Justin Blackmon on my FFB team and I wound up cutting him in week 6 because he just wasn't making plays. Then in week 10 he came alive and started kickin' butt. Miami can't wait until week 10 for players to start making plays unless they have a least a couple legit guys to make plays in week 1.
For 2 million dollars, it would be a crime to throw away a season because you didn't resign your best, experienced WR that RT has great chemistry with. The chemistry factor alone is worth 2 million bucks a year, and I think Hartline's talent vs the market is worth 3 mil. Talent + experience = skill. Hartline has the skill we need for 2013 at 6 million a year on the high end and maybe less.
7 Mil? Uh..NO.
Lol. You wrote exactly what I was thinking. Seriously, there's no way he's going there. The Pats don't overspend on average players.
